Manufactured in 1945. The rifle has a black phosphate finish with walnut stock, forearm and hand guard. The rifle is fitted with a No.32 MK III Telescopic Sight also manufactured in 1945. The 3X scope has the standard British pointer and cross-wire reticule and click-adjustable windage and elevation knobs. The scope has a detachable mount that is fastened to blocks on the left side of the receiver by two large clamping screws. The rifle is also fitted with a folding peep-aperture rear sight. The battle sight was removed during the sniper modification to provide clearance for scope. Included with the scope is the case which is numbered to the gun. A third sniper sling swivel is mounted on the trigger guard finial in front of the magazine. The maker's code "M47C", the date of production of 1945, the serial number and the sniper designation "TR" are stamped on the left side of the buttsocket. The letter "T" which indicates sniper conversion is stamped on the left side of the receiver between the scope mounting blocks. The Holland & Holland conversion code "S51" is stamped on the underside of the stock. The buttstock is numbered to the gun. Included with the rifle is a wooden transit case that was issued with each rifle and a leather sling. The inside of the lid has the equipment issued list. The No. 4 MK I (T) snipers remained in British service until 1970 when a small number were modified to the 7.62 MM L42A1.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% of the original black phosphate finish with the balance a smooth dark patina. The wood is excellent showing some minor pressure dents and a couple minor gouges on the underside of the wrist with a few minor handling marks overall. The scope has clear optics with loss of finish at the objective lens from the leather cover. Mechanically excellent.
