This is an example of a Colt factory unfinished frame and slide of a Model 1911 pistol. This lot consists of the frame and slide only. The two components are left in the white and are absent of all markings, including the serial number, which never was applied. The slide has a rear sight and an empty front sight slot. Like the prototype 1911 shoulder stock, this frame and slide may very well have been a retiring Colt official's retirement souvenir.
