The Marine Corps purchased 1,300 New Services revolvers in the 23,101-26,300 serial number range from Colt thru the Navy Department beginning in May 1909. These revolvers were known as the Model 1909. The matching serial number is stamped on the crane and frame. The butt is stamped "US/ MC/No/27." The barrel has the two line address/patent dates (1884, 1900 and 1905) marking on the top and "COLT D.A. 45" on the left side. he side plate has the Rampant Colt with stylized "C" marking (faint). The left side of the trigger guard has the Colt triangle factory proof and the number "3." Fitted with checkered grips and a lanyard swivel is correctly installed on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good as arsenal refinished. The revolver retains 90% of the dip blue finish showing some thinning with some wear at the muzzle and on the high edges. Some mild pitting is present under the finish. The grips are fine with a series of minor chips on the bottom (right panel), some minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
