Description:

Colt Model 1911 pistol manufactured in late 1918. Records show that this was one of 10,050 Model 1911 pistols shipped from Colt to the Ordnance Depot at Greenville Piers in Jersey City, New Jersey on November 11, 1918. The pistol has a blue finish with checkered walnut stocks and a two-tone, flat base, magazine. The pistol has late WWI production features and markings that include: (1) heart shaped grip openings under the stocks, (2) late style slide recoil spring housing, (3) wide spur hammer with border-less checkering pattern, (4) mid-1918 style safety lock,, (5) "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marking on the right side of the frame above the serial number, (6) large (7/16"), block style, "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" markings on the right side of the slide, (7) elongated two line patent dates and Hartford address with the Rampant Colt logo in the center on the left side of the slide and (8) "Eagle Head/S16" final inspection mark above the magazine release. An "H" provisional inspection mark is stamped on the rear of the slide above the firing pin stop and on the top of the frame in front of the disconnector hole. A "G" production order mark is stamped behind the disconnector hole. The barrel is blued; the top of the chamber is stamped with the combined "HP" proof and provisional inspection marks found on pistols in the 400,000 to 710,000 serial number range.

Rating Definition:

Professionally restored to near mint condition with 100% of the dull, military blue finish. The markings on the slide and frame are crisp. The barrel rifling is sharp. The walnut stocks have been re-checkered and are in new condition. The two-tone magazine is in very good condition with nearly 90% of the original finish. This is an exceptional restoration of a very late WWI production Colt Model 1911 pistol with all of the correct markings and components.
