Manufactured from 1909-1923. The Third Model single shot was also known as the "Perfected Target" pistol and is identified by the trigger guard which is integral with the frame and the trigger centered in the trigger guard. Also unlike the first and Second Model, the Third Model can be fired in single and double action. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates, caliber marking on the right side and "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with a small S&W trademark and the matching serial number is on the front strap and barrel latch. Blade front and adjustable rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger, and fitted with checkered extended walnut grips.

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% original blue finish with only a few minor scratches and handling marks. Almost all of the original vivid case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with a few very minor dings and handling marks, and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
