Manufactured in 1882, this is a Second Model 1876 Lever Action rifle with the dust cover guide rail secured to the receiver with two screws. Blade front sight and adjustable sporting leaf rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards and marked "1876" at the top. The top barrel flat is marked "WINCHESTER'S- REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT/KING'S- IMPROVEMENT- PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." ahead of the rear sight and "CAL 45-60" at the breech. The bottom of the brass elevator is marked "45-60". The upper tang is marked "MODEL. 1876." and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The rifle is equipped with a special order factory single set trigger. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and steel crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).The accompanying factory letter verifies the rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, set trigger that it was received in the warehouse on February 7, 1882 and shipped to order number 35414 on September 21, 1882.

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth dark brown patina with strong traces of the original blue finish in the protected areas. The revarnished wood is also good with some scattered minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
