The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked "-MANUFACTURE BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.-" and "45-90 W.C.F." at the breech. The two line "1884" and "1885" patent marking is marked directly behind the trigger and the serial number marked behind the lever. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-". Dovetailed blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights. Half magazine with the 1893 patent date on the takedown lever, blue finish with casehardened buttplate, hammer and lever, and mounted with a smooth forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip buttstock with a steel crescent buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the takedown rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, Winchester high velocity sights and half magazine. The rifle was received in the warehouse on October 11, 1904 and shipped the following date, order number 251843.

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish showing some thinning to a gray. A number of minor scratches are present on the receiver with a series of takedown marks on the barrel underside. The buttplate has faded to a gray with the hammer and lever retaining 85% original case colors. The wood is very fine with a number of minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
