Manufactured in 1897, this deluxe rifle features a folding globe front sight, there is a filler block in the rear sight slot and the upper tang is fitted with a short range peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A." ahead of the rear sight dovetail slot and "30 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang marking is covered by the peep sight and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Full length magazine, blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a deluxe nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut forearm with a steel end cap and pistol grip stock with a Winchester hard rubber grip cap and crescent buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% bright original blue finish with normal takedown wear on the magazine, edge wear, some scattered minor thinning and spotting. The hammer and lever retain most of the original case colors with some smooth dove gray patina on the lever. The buttplate has a smooth silver gray patina. The wood is also excellent with a few minor dings, handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
