The included Cody Museum Records Office verification form confirms the caliber, plain trigger and 30 inch long octagon barrel with the front sight listed as "ivory knife blade front" (current sight is German silver) at time of original shipment on May 2, 1901, order number 93884. The barrel has the two line address stamped on the top flat ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." stamped at the breech. The rifle has an elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight and a full length magazine tube. The upper tang is stamped with the three line model and the 1884 patent date. The serial number is stamped on the underside of the frame. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an iron forend cap and crescent buttplate.

Good. The rifle has a smooth mottled brown patina overall. Some minor pitting is present (mostly on the bolt and receiver) and a series of tool-like marks are present on the receiver underside. The wood is also good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
