This is an extremely rare, only known Merwin Hulbert Frontier Army revolver with three matching barrels. There is a 5 1/2 inch, 3 1/4 inch and 7 inch. All are round with a solid rib and pinned blade front sight. The 5 1/2 and 3 1/4 inch are marked with the two line address/patent dates, and the 7 inch is marked with the one line address and patent dates. All three are marked with the matching serial number, "7039" on the back of the lug. The revolver has the top strap, fluted cylinder and square butt. The left side of the frame below the cylinder is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873" and the serial number is marked on the left side of the front strap under the grip. Nickel finish with niter blue screw heads, casehardened trigger and hammer with folding spur marked "176" and fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips and lanyard ring on the butt. In the book "The Story of Merwin Hulbert & Co. Firearms" by Art Phelps, it mentions on page 20 "These 'Classic' barrels had an advantage over the Schofields as there were 3 lengths to choose from, 3 1/2", 5 1/2", and 7", the guns could be ordered with all three matching barrels."

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver and extra barrels retain 98% original nickel finish with a few small spots of flaking, heaviest on the 5 1/2 inch barrel, and overall some minor scratches and dings. Much of the original niter blue remains on the screw heads. The grips are also excellent with a few minor dents and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine. An extremely rare one-of-a-kind Merwin Frontier Army revolver with three matching barrels.
