Description:

This is a very rare example of a 1900s Winchester advertising umbrella. The canopy of the umbrella is made up of alternating orange and white panels of drill (durable cotton fabric). The white panels read, "The Winchester Store" and the orange panels read, "Arthur F. Knies White Haven, Penna." Overall length is 68 inches with japanned steel ribs and hardwood handle. These umbrellas are listed in the Winchester 1926-1927 product catalog under the headline "Wagon Umbrellas", page 254. The catalog gives a full description of the product and refers to the umbrellas as "an effective bit of advertising". The umbrellas original sold for $4.40 each plus $1.00 net per order for imprinting.

Rating Definition:

Good as fragile with the fabric showing stains and a few holes. A unique piece of early 20th century Winchester advertising that is rarely seen!
