Established in 1835, Holland & Holland has manufactured a wide variety of shotguns and rifles during its existence. The greater part of these arms were custom made by order. This shotgun features a single brass bead sight on the solid matte rib. The top of the right barrel at the breech is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND." and "98, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON" on the left side. The underside of the frame is marked "No 2 MODEL/EJECTOR". The locks, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are engraved with fine English scroll designs and each lock is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". The water table is marked with a "crown/V" proof mark and the matching serial number on each side. The barrel flats are marked with various proof marks, "NITRO PROOF" and the matching serial number on each barrel. 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked modified/improved cylinder with ejectors. Casehardened action and locks with blue remaining parts, double triggers, gold cocking indicators, manual tang mounted safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm with matching serial number and straight grip stock with tear drop flats and vented recoil pad. Bores measure .618 (right) and .618 (left), the wall thickness is .038 (right) and .038 (left), the bore constriction is .013 (right) (Mod) and .008 (left) (IC). Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. Drop at the comb is 1 1/2 inches, drop at the heel is 2 11/16 inches, and there is a 1/8 inch cast on and zero toe.

Very good as partially refinished (reblackened barrels) which have a smooth black patina with some streaks of thin finish. The trigger guard retains 50% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina (mainly on the tang) on the balance. The frame and locks retain 80% original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The wood is also very good with a dull appearance showing a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine.
