Description:

Manufactured in 1877. The barrels have a single steel bead sight, are choked improved modified/improved modified and have 2 1/2 inch chambers with an extractor. The bottom of the barrels are stamped with the frame size "2" and with the weight 4 pounds 6 ounces. Mounted on a smooth walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with silver initial shield and smooth steel buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. The research letter states it was ordered on June 9th, 1877, that it is a Quality 0 12 gauge, 32 inch Twist steel barrels, that it put 145 #8 pellets in a 24" circle at 45 yards from both barrels, LOP was 14 1/4", DAH was 2 7/8", weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and had a price of $50.00.

Rating Definition:

Fine, the barrels retain 25% of the thin original brown finish with much of the Damascus pattern visible. There is a smooth gray patina on the balance with some areas of discoloration. 50% of the original case colors remain with a gray patina on the balance with some areas of darker discoloration. The wood is very fine with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
