Description:

Manufactured in 1889 as a size 3 frame. The barrels have a single German silver bead sight, are choked .023/.023 and have 2 3/4 inch chambers with an extractor. The bottom flat of the barrels is stamped with a "D" and with the weight of the barrels "5" for 5 pounds. The receiver has flourishes of floral scroll engraving along with game scenes on the sides and on the trigger plate. The left side shows two ducks in flight over a marsh, the right shows two quail in a grassy field and the trigger plate shows two pheasants in a grassy field. Mounted on a nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap, silver initial shield and checkered hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine, the barrels retain much of the original brown finish with nearly all of the Damascus pattern visible. The receiver retains 30% of the original case colors in the protected areas with a smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. There are some scattered small areas of minor pitting overall. The wood is good as refinished with the forearm having smoothed checkering, some dings and some minor chips. The buttstock has multiple long tight hairline cracks on both sides of the wrist along with scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
