The lock plate is marked "R. DAVIS" ahead of the hammer and has a light border engraving. The top of the barrel, which is flat, is marked R. DAVIS LONDON AND MADRAS" behind the rear sight. The rifle is equipped with a blade front sight and a two leaf rear sight (one fixed, the other folding). A sling eyelet is mounted on the underside of the large bore rifled barrel. The nicely figured half stock features multi-point checkering on the wrist, a single barrel wedge and a metal shotgun style buttplate. The buttplate tang has a simple line border engraving. The rifle weighs about 15 lbs.

Good as partially restored. The rifle mostly has a smooth dark patina with a lighter patina on the lock plate. Some minor pitting is present on the trigger guard. The replacement stock is very fine with limited minor handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically fine.
