Description:

Manufactured in 1867. This outstanding Model 1860 revolver was engraved in Nimschke style floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background by Master Engraver Ben Lane Jr. in 2005. The engraving covers 4 inches of the breech end sides of the barrel, a 1 inch wedge on the sides of the muzzle, loading lever lug, front portion of the cylinder, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The rear portion of the cylinder has a geometric design and there is a shell design on the top of the back strap. The hammer has a wolfs head and floral scroll engraving. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address with a decorative simple line, dot and scroll design ahead of it. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" in an oval panel and the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "44 CAL" also in an oval panel. Ahead of the barrel serial number is the intertwined initials "BL". The outer edges of the wedge are also engraved. The barrel is fitted with a dovetailed blade front sight. The revolver has been finished in a "soft" nickel finish with niter blue screws, percussion nipples and trigger. The refinishing was also done by Mr. Lane.

Rating Definition:

Professionally master embellished to near mint with light handling/storage marks. The grip is very fine with a number of hairline age cracks, and a very pleasant patina, and attractive grain. A beautiful Colt Model 1860 Army revolver embellished by Master Engraver Ben Lane Jr.
