Produced by an unknown craftsman, no makers marks are present on the grip. The right panel is smooth, while the left has a raised carved design of Lady Liberty carrying an American flag on a pole in her right hand and a document in her left hand.

Very fine overall, with a fine aged color, darker on the interior, with a few very thin age cracks and attractive grain. Detail on the carving is very good, with some loss of definition on the face. An attractive piece of art in it's own right, which may be exactly what a Model 1849 needs to become a top piece in a collection.
