Description:

This is an example of a lever action Navy Pistol that was manufactured by the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company. The Volcanic Repeating Arms Co., manufactured an estimated 1,200 Navy Pistols were manufactured with the 6 inch barrel between 1855 and 1857. The barrel flat is marked with the three line Volcanic Repeating Arms Company address, and the matching serial number is marked on the right side of the lever and left side of the frame under the grip. This pistol has the distinctive octagon barrel with integral magazine, brass frame and lever with round finger hole. The barrel/magazine had a blue finish, the hammer and lever were casehardened. The pistol has a brass cone front sight on the barrel and a dovetail mounted fixed rear sight mounted on the receiver.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel, magazine and lever have a gray patina. There are some minor dings and some minor pitting on the barrel and magazine. The frame has a dark natural aged patina. The top edge of the right side plate has some marring and there are a number of minor dings on the frame. The professionally made replacement grips are fine with most varnish remaining showing some very mild wear on the lower edges and a few light handling marks. The barrel markings is partially visible. The action is fine. A nice example of a rare Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. Navy Pistol with 6 inch barrel.
