Manufactured in 1896. This is a nice example of a special order Winchester Model 1885 rifle with Winchester style target blocks. The number 1 barrel is equipped with a special order folding combination Beach front sight and sporting rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight slot, and the lower tang is marked with the 1879 patent date behind the trigger and the serial number at the rear. The rifle is also equipped with a special order single set trigger and a brass Swiss buttplate. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock.

Excellent. The barrel retains 95% original blue finish with some thinning on the enter of the barrel and edge wear. The receiver retains 90% original bright case colors with areas faded to gray and some minor oxidation. The wood is also excellent with only slight handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The markings are clear.
