Manufactured in 1905, this was the first non-detachable box magazine rifle made by Winchester. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1895/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK" and the serial number appears on the lower tang behind the lever latch. The barrel is equipped with a dovetailed brass blade front sight and an adjustable rear sporting sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and crescent buttplate, and mounted with a smooth Schnabel forearm with ebony forend insert and straight grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 90% of the original blue finish with areas thinning to a smooth brown. The receiver retains 70% original blue finish with some smooth brown and gray patina and high edge wear. The magazine retains 80% original blue finish with normal wear from cycling the action. The lever shows strong original blue mixed with a smooth mottled brown patina. The buttplate has a smooth brownish gray patina. The wood is also very fine with a few minor scratches, minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
