Description:

Manufactured from 1860 to 1862 with a total production of approximately 15,000. It has been estimated that only 1,000 of these, such as this example, were accepted by the U.S, government before production was switched to the Model 1861.The top barrel flat is marked "BEALS' PATENT. SEPT. 14. 1858./MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON'S ILION. N.Y." Matching serial number marked on the barrel and frame. Single letter inspector marks are found on most of the major components. German silver cone front sight, silver plated brass trigger guard and wing cylinder pin. The outline of a boxed script cartouche (very faint) appears on the left grip panel.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver retains traces of original blue in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. Traces of original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are fair with the cartouche battered flat, wood splinters missing near the bottom and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
