Description:

Manufactured in 1923, this is a fantastic example of a first generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver in 45 Long Colt. The barrel is stamped "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on top and stamped "45 COLT" on the left side of the barrel at the breech. The left side of the frame is stamped "PAT SEPT. 19 1871./JULY 2.72 JAN.1975" followed by the Rampant Colt. The trigger guard is stamped with the Colt VP (verified proof) factory triangle proof and the number "3" on the left side. The right side of the barrel has the ejector rod housing with the ejector rod having the correct curved indented design head. The matching serial number is stamped on the underside of the frame and on the grip straps under the grip panel, with the assembly number "1026" on the loading gate. The rear cylinder face has the number "26". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips featuring the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. Both grip panels are numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% original blue finish showing some thinning to a brown. A patch of light pitting is present on the left side of the barrel at the caliber marking. The frame and hammer retain 97% plus original case colors. The grips are also excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A superb example of an inter-war period Colt Single Action Army Revolver.
