Manufactured in 1909 and by 1914 only approximately 1,011 Colt Single Action Army revolvers were manufactured in the 38 Colt caliber. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side is marked "38 COLT" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The matching assembly number "1590" is marked on the loading gate and right rear of the frame. The left upper front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark and "W" at the rear. Blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer, blade front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt at the top.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% of the bright original high polish blue finish with thinning to plum on the barrel, some minor high edge wear, some minor scratches overall and small area of finish loss on the front of the trigger guard and some minor spotting on the back strap. There is a noticeable drag line and some cycling scratches on the cylinder. The hammer and frame retain 98% bright vivid original case colors with some fading on the top strap. The grips are also excellent with light handling marks, and small minor bruise on the left panel and crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
