This example has tight English floral scroll engraving covering almost all of the receiver, lock plates, tangs, hammers and top lever. There is a bird's head motif engraved on the hammers. Both lock plates are engraved "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". The top lever is engraved "PETERSE/MOVEMENT" and pivots to the left. The barrels have a raised quarter rib with two flip up sight leafs and the manufacturer's markings. The barrels are choked light full/full and have 3" chambers with an extractor. The bottom flat is stamped with the bore sizes "19.3" for the right, "19.4" for the left, the gauge "12" in a diamond, with nitro proofs, with the chamber length "70MM" and with the serial number. The top tang is 8 1/2 inches long. Mounted on a nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with an engraved silver initial oval and a leather covered recoil pad. Length of pull is 15 inches with a drop at comb of 1 3/4 inches and a drop at heel of 2 5/8 inches.

Good as partially refinished (barrels), 99% of the high quality blue finish remains with some scattered minor pitting under the finish and traces of the engraving and manufacturer's markings remain. The chambers have been lengthened to 3 inches. There is pitting just behind the rifled section at the muzzle and towards the front of the chambers. The inside of the forearm retains strong traces of the original case colors with the remainder of the casehardened components having a number of deep scratches and cleaned pitting with parts of the engraving faint. The wood is very good as refinished with scattered dings and scratches. The checkering is sharp. Mechanically fine. This was certainly a high quality gun that took many hours of work to complete!
