Fitted with a single nickel bead sight, with the top flat marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON/63 PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH" and tightly executed scroll and floral engraving on the breech and tang. The lock plate, hammer and frizzen are similarly engraved, with "JOHN DICKSON & SON" along the bottom edge of the lock, a narrow flash pan, and a rolled-equipped frizzen spring. Additional scroll engraving is present on the trigger guard, with a pineapple finial. Checkered straight wrist stock, with a horn forearm tip, ramrod with flared brass head and ball extraction screw, scroll and floral engraved furniture, silver inscription panel on the underside of the buttstock, smooth blued steel buttplate with a long heel tang and a length of pull of 14 1/2 inches.

Very fine as period refurbished, with 98% of the deep brown finish, showing a strong and attractive Damascus pattern through the length of the barrel and rib, with a few light handling marks. The breech, tang and lock show a well-aged casehardened pattern, with strong colors in the protected areas, especially under the hammer. The revarnished stock is very fine, with a few light pressure dents and handling marks, strong varnish and attractive grain. Mechanically excellent.
