This is another beautiful example of a custom Clayton N. Nelson, 416 Rigby magnum bolt action rifle built on a postwar Fabrique Nationale (FN) 98 Mauser action. As previously noted Clayton Nelson is an adjutant instructor at the Trinidad School Of Gunsmithing and an NRA stock making instructor. He specializes in instructing "wood inletting" and who is also an exceptionally talented metalsmith. This is a massive postwar Magnum Mauser type action with the extended box magazine, originally manufactured after WWII, by FN, Herstale Belgium. It has been fitted with a equally heavy magnum weight sporter contour barrel that has a heavier breech end with integral (machined on the barrel) rear sight base that has one standing and two folding leafs. The leafs have been regulated but are unmarked. It is fitted with a barrel-band, ramp front sight with quick detachable bead front sight blade with a removable hood. The barrel is marked "CLAYTON N. NELSON CUSTOM RIFLEMAKER" and "416/RIGBY" over the chamber. The bolt knob has two, hand-checkered panels, and the safety has been converted into a side swing safety. The rifle has been beautifully stocked in a very nice tight grained English walnut pistol grip stock that has been perfectly laid out for a magnum rifle, with figure in the butt area with straight grain in the pistol grip and forend. The stock has a single cross-bolt with a beautiful multi-point hand checkered pistol grip and forend panels. The stock has a contrasting ebony forend tip, steel Neidner style grip cap with a decelerator, red rubber recoil pad. The top of the receiver rings have been fitted with a set of custom dovetailed scope bases only.

Very fine as professionally built with 98% of the rust blued metal finish overall. The stock is excellent with some very scattered minor handling marks with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
