This is a fabulous example of a beautiful custom varmint rifle built by the famous, master gunsmith Keith Stegall. Keith is extremely well through out the Gun industry for his fabulous high end custom rifle work and is considered one of the early giants in custom gunsmithing in the US today. This is a beautiful lightweight varmint rifle in 22-250 that was built on the super rare early prewar 98 Mauser "Kurz" action that were only made for a very short time. These actions are somewhat shorter than a standard Mauser action and are highly sought after for building light weight varmint and hunting rifles. This example has a light to medium stainless steel sporter contour barrel that is signed "Keith Stegall" on top with ".22-250" on the left rear side. The left side of the action is marked with the early Crown U and B" proof marks over "888758,0 K.P. WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER-OBERNDORF a.N.". It has a custom one piece trigger guard with a hinged floor plate and Mauser style quick release lever. The bolt handle has been lowered and hand checkered with a checkered panel on each side. The bolt body and have been jeweled. The receiver has been fitted with a set of Redfield scope mounts. It has an adjustable, single set trigger. The rifle has been stocked in an extra fancy grade walnut with raised shadow-line cheekpiece and multi-point, fine line (22-24 lines/inch) checkering on the pistol grip and forestock. The stock has a checkered steel grip cap, sling swivel studs and a checkered steel buttplate.

Excellent as professionally built by Keith Stegall with 99% rust blue finish overall. The stock is also in excellent condition with light handling marks and crisp sharp checkering with a some minor spotting of the finish on the right side. The action is excellent.
