This is just fabulous example of a "Clayton Nelson" custom sporting rifle built on an original pre-WWII Mauser, single square bridge "Kurz" action. These short action are exceptionally rare (and make superb custom rifles if you can even find one) as they were approximately 3/8 inch shorter that a standard action and only made for a short time. Originally built by Mauser in "250 Savage", it has been custom rebarreled in an original Mauser style barrel with integral, one-piece, front and rear sight bases. The bases were milled on the barrel just like Mauser organically did, and are now fitted with a removable Mauser type bead front sight and a four leaf express, rear sight. The front and rear receiver bridges have been modified for a tally type, quick detachable scope bases, (rings not included). It is fitted the original quick release Mauser floor plate/trigger guard that has been narrowed at the front. The original bolt features a four-panel, hand checkered pattern with an engraved bolt knob, which now has a custom side swing safety. The rifle has been beautifully restocked in an extra fancy walnut with a small European cheek piece with shadow line and fabulous 22 line per inch checkering on the forend and pistol grip. Fitted with an ebony forend tip, steel grip cap and buttplate, with compartment. The barrel is marked "CLAYTON N. NELSON CUSTOM RIFLEMAKER". The wood to metal fit is absolutely phenomenal. For those who don't know who Clayton Nelson, he is an adjutant instructor at the Trinidad School Of Gunsmithing and an NRA stock making instructor. He teaches wood inletting with an exceptional back ground in metal working.

Excellent with 98% rust blue finish with edge and high spot wear. The stock is also excellent with fabulous grain, superb checkering with only some minor handling marks/scratches on the cheek piece. Mechanically excellent. This is just exceptional high condition custom sporting rifle.
