Description:

This is mid-production DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Commercial Luger pistol rig that includes an original black leatherette cased set with accessories. These early black storage/carrying case are even rarer than the Luger themselves, as most were separated from the pistols and later discarded or destroyed over the years. These American Eagle Luger were made for export to the United States and so have the distinctive large American eagle crest over the chamber area. These early DWM Lugers have excellent fit and finish with beautiful hand polish rust blue metal and straw colored smaller components. The model has short style frame and upper receiver with the extractor marked "LOADED" as intended for the American market with the first model, polished lower safety area. This is an early model as it does have the standard "crown/B,U, and G commercial proofmarks with the underside of the barrel marked with the early DWM barrel proof that consists of a shield with a partial line through it. The front of the frame and underside of the barrel are marked with the full serial number, with the last two digits stamped on the back sides of the various small parts. There are no commercial "crown N" proofmarks however the front of the frame is correctly stamped "GERMANY" indicating it is intended for export. The pistol is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips and it is complete with a total of three nickel plated magazines with the wooden bases, a steel cleaning rod with the oiler on the end, two disassembly pin punches an unmarked takedown tool, a 50 round box of Winchester 7.65mm cartridges and a reproduction Luger manual. As noted, this desirable Luger is complete with a very rare 7 X 13 inch original DWM storage/carrying case. The case itself has a durable hard black rough textured type exterior material, with a dark green felt lining. It only has five compartments; one for the Luger itself, the steel cleaning rod/oiler, the box of ammunition and disassembly equipment and two spare magazines. The case has the leather handle on the front with brass locks and hinges.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish overall with wear and thinning on the edges and high spots. The grips are very good with nice distinct checkering on both sides with some light freshening on the center of the left grip. The various small parts retain 80% of their straw colors overall. The case is very good overall with the exterior showing light wear and scuffing overall with the corners and edges of the lid worn through. The inside of the case is intact with the felt a little dirty and showing some staining from where the luger was sitting.
