Description:

This is an outstanding example of a late WWI production Model 1914 Navy Luger that was standard issue to the Imperial German Navy. These Navy Lugers have the unique two position 100 and 200 meter rear sight and the longer 6 inch barrel. This model is easily identified by the lack of a grip safety and is dated "1917" over the chamber, the left frame rail and left side of the front sight base. The "DWM" monogram is marked on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel and barrel extension are both "Crown" and "Crown/M" proofed. It is fitted with the distinctive 6 inch Navy style barrel with the standard blade front sight and correct two position (100 and 200) Navy rear sight. It is fitted with an original matching WWI Navy magazine that has the nickel plated body and Navy wooden bottom stamped with a "crown/M" and "9237. Complete with a brown leather Navy holster marked "JOH HUBER/SATTLEREI/MUNCHEN" on the back. The holster is complete with an original wooden handled steel Navy pattern cleaning rod and unmarked takedown tool.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% plus of the original blue finish with only slight edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 90% of their original straw color. The grips are excellent plus with light handling marks and sharp checkering. Clear markings. Mechanically excellent. The holster is near excellent with some age cracking on the body, flex cracking on the flap, some heavy wear on the cleaning rod pouch flap, clear markings and tight stitching. This is the finest all original WWI Imperial Navy Luger rig that this writer can ever recall offering at auction.
