Description:

1) Black felt U.S. artillery helmet with brass eagle plate, red horsehair plum, red triple braided helmet cords with red chest cords, tassels and flounders. The sweat band has the W.H. Horstman-Philadelphia marking, inspector names and dated Feb. 10, 1902. Size is 7 1/8. 2) Black felt U.S. cavalry helmet with brass eagle plate, yellow plume, yellow triple braided helmet cords with yellow chest cords, tassels and flounders. The sweat band has the W.H. Horstman-Philadelphia marking, inspector names dated May 20, 1896.

Rating Definition:

Both helmets are very fine showing some fading of the cords and the leather beginning to stiffen. The brass has an even patina.
