Description:

This First Model Military & Police revolver was also known as the Model 1899 Army-Navy revolver. Out of the total production of 20,975 manufactured from 1899 to 1902, only 1,000 were delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1900. The barrel has the two line S&W address/patent date marking and the right side plate has the S&W trade mark. The factory serial number is stamped on the front grip strap. The butt is marked "USN/[anchor]/38 DA/B inside a triangle/NO/958/CAB". Fitted with diamond checkered grips and correctly without a lanyard swivel.

Rating Definition:

Good. Traces of bright original blue finish remain in the protected areas (mostly on the frame) with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The grips are also good with a minor chip missing near the bottom (right panel), some minor pressure dents and some wear in the checkering. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Out of the total production of 20,975 manufactured from 1899 to 1902, only 1,000 were delivered to the U.S. Army in 1901 in the serial number range of 13,000 to 14,000. The barrel has the two line address/patent dates marking on top and caliber marking on left side with the underside of the barrel numbered to the gun and marked with a "P" and "K.S.M." The left rear of the frame is marked with the inspector mark "K.S.M." and the large "S&W" trade mark logo is marked on the right side. The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1899" and the matching serial number is marked on the front strap, rear cylinder face and bottom of the barrel. Fitted with checkered diamond pattern grips, "J.T.T./1901" marked in a circle at the top of the left panel and "K.S.M." on the right top.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown-gray patina on the balance showing some very scattered mild pitting. The grips are fine with some minor pressure dents and some blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. The action is tight but functions fine.
