A) Springfield Armory Model 1903 Mark I Bolt Action Rifle

Description:

Manufactured in 1919 with the barrel marked "S A/flaming bomb/10- 19". These rifles were designed to be used like a normal 1903 but also have the capability to use the Pedersen device firing .30-18 cartridges for close fighting. The bolt has the steel lot code "J 5" stamped on the bottom of the safety lug. The correct Mark I cut-off and disconnector sear are intact. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with two reinforcing bolts, grasping grooves, a boxed "E.L.J./R.I.A." cartouche, a circled script "P" proof and a fine checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 98% of the olive green parkerized finish remains with some high edge wear and scattered minor scratches. The bolt body has a black parkerized finish with scattered minor pitting under the finish. The stock is fine with a horizontal sliver of wood absent at the right side of the top tang, some scattered scratches, some scattered dings and legible cartouche. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

Manufactured in mid 1922. The barrel is stamped behind the standard front sight "S A/flaming bomb/8- 24". The top flat of the bent bolt knob is stamped "W L/3". Mounted on a smooth straight grip walnut stock with grasping grooves, two reinforcing bolts, a boxed "D.A.L." cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proof on the bottom of the wrist and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler. With a leather claw sling, a Springfield Armory Model 1905 bayonet dated 1910 and a leather covered scabbard marked "R.I.A./1906/C.S." on the backside.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 98% of the olive green parkerized finish remains with some minor high edge wear and two spots on the right side of the front barrel band. The stock is very good with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The sling and scabbard are good. The bayonet is very good with some sharpening marks.
