Description:

Manufactured by the Imperial Arsenal at Erfurt in 1918. Rust blue finish with straw colors on the various small parts. The chamber is dated 1918 and the standard "crown/ERFURT" marks on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the standard Crown over script proofs next to an Imperial Eagle firing proof. The top front edge of the barrel extension has the small sight cut, typically intended for the rear portion of the artillery rear sight, and as seen on many late 1917/18 Erfurt Lugers. Correct Erfurt barrel that is proofed with the Erfurt "crown/script letter" markings, along with the small Imperial Army firing proof. Exhibits the typical Erfurt Arsenal rough machining with many of the smaller parts having the Erfurt "Crown over a script" letter proof or the Crown over "RC" proof. Standard fixed front and rear sights and extractor and safety are properly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". Fitted with checkered grips and has a WWI era nickel plated magazine with the wooden base marked with "8368+/Crown letter proof".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 90% original blue overall with minor wear on the edges and high spots. The underside of the barrel has a couple of minor pin prick pitting spots. The chamber area has a small area where the blue was slightly touched up. The various small parts retain 60% of their original straw colors. The grips are excellent with nice checkering overall with minor handling marks and pressure dings. The Luger has all matching numbers, except the magazine.
