This WWI Gewehr receiver has been reworked by having the markings on the front receiver ring ground off, and then, after WWII, remarked "bcd/bnz" over a spurious single "S" Rune. It was then converted/assembled into a short side type sniper using reproduction short side rail sniper mounts and base sets, which was then fitted with a very desirable pre-war "Krieghoff" marked scope. The front receiver ring retains original imperial proof marks with the side wall covered by the scope base. The scope base is correctly held with three large screws, with lock screws and two taper pins, and the mount follows the late fourth pattern with additional locking screw on top. The barrel rear has the serial number (7135) and restamped with a (spurious) Nazi eagle firing proof. The mount is fitted with a desirable "HENSOLDT AND WETZLAR" scope marked on the side of the tube "SEMPERT & KREIGHOFF SUHL" and is also marked "Ziel Dialyt 4X". The scope body and front objective bell have two small silver spots on the scope tube where it once had a set of double rifle claw rings. Standard military front and tangent rear sights. Late war Kreigs style laminated stock and handguard with the stamped barrel bands trigger guard and floor plate, cupped buttplate and bolt takedown hole. The buttstock has a letter "M" over a double restamped waffenamt proofs.

Fine as assembled and remarked on the receiver ring with 90% of the blue finish remaining. The stock and handguard are very fine with minimal handling marks and visible proofs that have been restamped as noted above. The scope base and mount have 98% blue finish. The optics are sharp and clear. The scope retains 85% of the original blue finish with the two noted areas above. Overall an interesting rifle.
