Description:

Formed in response to the actions of Josip Tito's partisans, the 13th Waffen Mountain Division was recruited from the region, chiefly Bosnians and Croatians with German and Ethnic German officers, in the hopes of bringing the situation under control without tying up resources and men needed further East. The 13th holds the dubious distinction of being the Waffen-SS's first step in being a multi-ethnic organization; Himmler justified bringing in the Bosnians by claiming they were Aryan via descent from the Goths or Iranians. Maroon wool construction, with a cloth patch "SS eagle" and "totenkopf" on the front, topped with a black tassel. The interior is unmarked, with a brown leather sweatband.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with a few lost tassel threads and mild wear on the sweatband.
