Manufactured in 1889. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address and "45-70" (faint) at the breech. The upper tang is marked "-Model 1886-", and the 1884/1885 patent dates and serial number are on the lower tang. Blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 10. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Fair. The rifle has a mottled gray patina with some dark original case colors remaining on the left side of the receiver and buttplate. Some minor pitting is present (mostly on the bolt and receiver). The refinished wood is also fair with some minor gouges and a hairline crack at the stock toe. Mechanically fine.
