This example was manufactured in 1875. The Decarbonized Steel barrels have a single bead sight, are choked .005/.005 and have 2 3/4 inch chambers with an extractor. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a smooth steel buttplate. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches. The letter states it was completed on June 5th, 1875, that it is a Quality 0, a 12 gauge, has 30" Decarbonized Steel barrels, LOP listed as 14 1/4" and DAH as 2 1/2".

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, the barrels retain 30% of the original blue finish with a mostly smooth brown patina on the balance. There are scattered nicks and scratches along with a few small patches of minor pitting. The casehardened components retain traces of the original case colors mostly in the protected areas. There is a smooth mottled gray/brown patina on the balance of the casehardened components and the trigger guard. The wood is very good with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
