Description:

One of 700 First Type Sharps converted/refurbished by Springfield Arsenal using a mixture of components from percussion Sharps and new-made Springfield components. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the lock retaining the Sharps and Lawrence patent markings, with the left side of the otherwise unmarked barrel numbered to match the upper tang of the receiver. Smooth straight wrist stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, a steel ramrod, an "ERA" cartouche on the left side of the wrist, sling swivels and a "US" marked buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished overall. The barrel and bands show some minor spotting and handling marks on the otherwise bright surface, while the receiver and lock plate retain about 30% of the refinished case colors, showing a gray and brown patina overall. The left side of the rear sight ladder is cracked-through. Stock is good, with some dents and mild scuffs. Mechanically very fine.
