The sides of the receiver are engraved with floral scroll engraving. The front receiver ring is crosshatched with a light floral scroll pattern on each side. The floor plate is engraved with a fox trying to catch a flying duck with floral scroll engraving covering the remainder. The trigger guard is engraved with a hawk sitting on a branch with floral scroll covering the balance. There is a decorative horn piece attached to the lower tang. The lower tang is engraved "D.R.G.M./20454". The barrel has a beaded blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight, is marked "BERNHARD MERKEL, SUHL" on the rib and is marked "6040" and "8x60 MAGNUM" on the left side near the rear. There is an "OIGEE.Berlin" and "LUXOR 3x 70793" marked scope in the claw mounts on top of the receiver. Has double set triggers and a Greener style side safety. Mounted on a checkered straight grip walnut stock with nice figure, a spring loaded two position cheekpiece and a checkered bare butt.

Fine as custom built, 70% of the original blue finish remains on the barrel with some high edge wear, some minor spots of oxidation and some brown patina. The receiver, floor plate and lower tang have 25% of the blue finish with a plum/brown patina on the balance with some minor pitting under the finish. The stock is also fine with scattered scratches, dings, a couple of gouges and some moderate chips absent from the bottom edges of the cheekpiece. Mechanically fine. The scope is good as refinished with scattered scratches and pitting under the finish. Scope has clear optics.
