Manufactured from 1881 to 1892 with this example a Third Style featuring the two line address/patent date marking ending with "REISSUE NOV. 9. 1880". "38-55" is stamped on the top barrel flat at the breech. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, full length magazine tube, blade front and buckhorn rear sights and mounted with forearm with metal forend cap and added checkering and smooth pistol grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Fine. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish showing a smooth brown patina on the balance. The wood is also fine with some chipping and a number of minor handling marks. Action functions fine, but lever is loose.
