Manufactured in 1888, the Model 1873 was one of the most popular lever actions that Winchester ever produced. This is the "Gun that Won the West". Three additional cartridges were available, however none as popular as the .44. Solid iron block front sight and adjustable folding leaf rear sight marked "1873" and graduated to 900 yards. This is a Third Model with the dust cover guide rail integral to the receiver. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CT./ KING'S IMPROVEMENT - PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860" in front of the barrel band. The upper tang is marked with the model designation and the lower tang is stamped with the serial number. The bottom of the cartridge carrier is marked "44 CAL". Saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good. The carbine has an even, dark patina with some scattered minor spotting. The wood is also good with a minor gouge on both sides of the front of the forearm, and overall some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
