Description:

Manufactured from 1863 to 1865, the Spencer Carbine was one of the most popular firearms used by the Union forces in the Civil War. Blade front sight, ladder rear sight adjustable to 800 yards (currently backwards), a saddle ring bar with ring, sling swivel on the bottom of the butt, and the magazine fed through the buttplate. The top of the receiver has the Spencer address and patent marking with the serial number on the upper rear. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a single barrel band and two faint cartouches on the left side of the wrist.

Rating Definition:

Good. The rifle has an overall gray-brown patina with various marks and scratches. The wood is well worn with barely visible cartouche and numerous dings, scratches, dents, gouges, and three hairline cracks extending from the rear edge of the butt. Mechanically excellent with partially faded markings.
