Description:

Manufactured in the early 1870s on government contract. Standard Remington address and patent marking along the lower edge of the left side of the frame, "I/W.D.W" and "anchor" on top of the barrel, "P/F.C.W" on the right side of the frame. The underside of the barrel ahead of the forearm is marked "2857". Blue barrel, casehardened remaining parts. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and one piece grip.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel and trigger guard have a dark patina and the frame has a mottled dark gray patina. The wood is fair with a few gouges, a crude "X" scratched into the bottom of the grip, and scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The front sight is absent. Clear markings. The action is fine.
