Description:

1) British 1842 pattern officer's sword, 38 1/2 inches long with a 32 1/2 inch single fuller blade which shows etched scrollwork and Queen Victoria ciphers on both sides, a brass "PROVED" stamp on the right ricasso and "RANKIN/& Co/Calcutta" on the left. Pierced-through silver finished brass guard with a folding counter-guard, Victoria cipher, and a wire wrapped rayskin grip. Includes a steel tipped brass scabbard. 2) Royal Engineers sword, 38 inches long with a 32 3/4 inch single fuller blade, with scroll etching on both sides, the Royal Engineers logo on the right, Victoria cipher, "UBIQUE" banner and motto on the left, with a brass "PROVED" seal on the right ricasso and "J. JONES/6/REGENT St/LONDON." on the left. Fitted with a pierced-through brass guard, checkered pommel and a wire wrapped rayskin grip. Includes a brass scabbard.

Rating Definition:

1) Very fine with some light spotting on the excellent blade, a few patched of black residue on the pommel, and scattered handling marks. The hilt retains a few traces of well aged silver finish, and the scabbard shows a number of dings and dents. 2) Fine with mild blade spotting, some dings, dents, unknown black residue on the brass, and scattered handling marks.
