Rating Definition:

Fair. The musket has a heavily polished bright finish with some spots of pitting and patches of toning. The date, arsenal, and U.S. markings are clear both cartouches are faint. The bayonet is very fine with only some minor spotting. The wood is good with signs of light sanding and refinishing with some portions absent on either side of the upper tang and below the front section of the lock plate, some cracking at the rear of the lock plate, a small crack in the butt midway on the left rear, and some scratches, dings, and marks. The replacement scabbard is fair with some thinning, wear, and an aged patina on the brass components.
