Manufactured in 1900. The serial number correctly falls into the carbine serial number range (222609-362256) and features a blade front sight on a high stud and Mauser style rear sight graduated from 2 to 20 on the ladder with an unmarked base. Standard left side receiver markings. Mounted with a straight grip half stock with handguard, single barrel band, and curve toed steel buttplate with a trapdoor compartment (cleaning rod absent). The left side of the stock is stamped with a sharp "JSA/1900" script cartouche and a circled script "P" is behind the trigger guard with a "40" marked ahead of it.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The carbine retains 50% of the faded blue finish and the dark oil quenched case color with some areas of oxidation and a brown patina on the trigger guard, buttplate, and barrel band. The wood is fine with sharp cartouche, some cracks in the handguard behind the rear sight and various dings, marks, and scratches throughout. The left side of the stock is more golden than the right or the handguard. Mechanically fine.
