Description:

This musket features fixed block sights with a flared tulip-bulb muzzle highlighted with silver panels on the edges and an interwoven band of gold and brass and the rear 5 inches of the barrel showing an inlaid scene of a tree rendered in gold, silver and brass behind the rear sight. The lockplate is unmarked with a cut-through cherry blossom design on the panel protecting the sear. Smooth traditional profile stock with silver finished brass leaf escutcheons for the forearm pins and a number of gold and silver panels, chiefly leaves and birds, on the butt. On the underside, between the triggerguard and rear barrel band, is a silver finished inlaid mon for the Mizuno Clan which served Tokugawa during the Shogunate.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel shows a mixed brown patina overall with some mild spotting. The inlays are solid, with a well aged patina on the silver. The stock is fair with a number of grain cracks, especially on the butt, as well as some absent inlay panels. Mechanically good.
