A) Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver

Description:

Manufactured in 1861. Brass pin front and hammer notch rear sights, with the one line "NEW-YORK" address on top of the barrel, "COLTS/PATENT" on the frame and "36 CAL" on the trigger guard. Matching numbers are present on the barrel, frame, cylinder and grip straps. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fair, showing a mixed brown and gray patina on the steel components, with a number of tool marks around the barrel wedge and lug, scattered pitting and handling marks, and some deformation of the screw heads. Traces of well-aged original silver are present on the grip straps. The loading lever is repaired behind the catch. Grips are good as refinished, with dents and varnish loss. Mechanically good.

Description:

Manufactured in 1853. Brass pin front and hammer notch rear sights, with the bracketed 2-line New York City address on top of the barrel, stagecoach scene on the cylinder, "COLTS/PATENT" marked frame, and "S" marked trigger guard. With a smooth one piece grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The blue components show 40% of the original blue finish, with the cylinder is bright, areas of brown patina on the barrel, scattered spotting, dings, edge wear and handling marks. A few patches of rust and pitting are also present. A smooth, lightly polished gray patina is visible on the frame and loading lever. 50% of the silver is present, showing a nice dark antique color, with edge wear and well aged brass. Grip is very good, with some dings on the butt, a small chip on the toe, and mild handling marks. Mechanically fine.
