Description:

1) Signed wakizashi-length sword, 29 1/2 inches in overall length, with a 20 1/2 inch blade showing a slightly wavy temper line and set into a 2-piece gilt copper habaki. Round iron tsuba, with raised gold and copper accented field scenes on the top and bottom, and embossed gold floral designs on the fuchi and kashira. Black cord wrap over gilt menuki. The tang bears an untranslated 6-figure signature on the left side with a black lacquer saya. 2) Aikuchi style tanto knife, 14 inches long with a 9 5/8 inch blade showing a straight hamon, a unokubi zukuri profile and a silver finished habaki with a white cord wrap over the rayskin and a wasp-engraved kashira. Black lacquer saya with a 7 inch kogatana fitted with a 4 inch blade and a hilt matching the kashira.

Rating Definition:

1) Fair. The blade shows mild spotting across the length with light edge chips, a few instances of splitting grain and some loss of the hamon. A few frayed areas are visible on the wrap with mild splitting of the rayskin and a dark brown patina on the furniture. Saya is cracked and chipped. 2) Very good with some light chips and handling marks on the blade, a green "(6)" stamp on the wrap, and some cracking of the saya.
